An administrator who has been in the Hannibal Public School system for over two decades has been tapped as the district’s new superintendent.

The Hannibal School Board announced Wednesday the promotion of Assistant Superintendent Susan Johnson to the Superintendent’s post, effective July 1.

Johnson has held the number two job in the district since 2004. She replaces Dr. Jill Janes, who retires at the end of the current school year.

Johnson has been in education for 21 years, serving as both a classroom teacher and principal at Eugene Field Elementary School in Hannibal.
