Officials at John Wood Community College credit a strategic focus on student success for the highest student retention rate on record this fall.

In a press release, John Wood officials report that the percentage of students who return to JWCC from semester to semester stands at 79 percent, up from 76 percent last year.

School officials also report that John Wood students were enrolled in a total of 20,076 credit hours on the first day of classes this semester, which is down about 900 hours from a year ago.

Statewide community college enrollment tells a similar story, with credit hours down one to ten percent compared to last year.
