New students and prospective students interested in learning more about John Wood Community College’s agriculture, agribusiness, agronomy, animal science, beef and swine specialist programs are encouraged to attend a special orientation and registration session, Thursday, June 21.  The session will be held at the JWCC Agricultural Education Center on Route 104 near Perry beginning at 10 a.m. for those who have completed the COMPASS test.  Prospective students who have not completed the COMPASS testing to meet admission requirements may take the test at 8 a.m.  The event will conclude with course registration at 1 p.m.

Registration is encouraged, but not required.  Contact the JWCC Agricultural Education Center at 217.236.4711 or 217.641.4558 to register or for more information.

The program will include the required COMPASS testing for new students, information about admissions, financial assistance and scholarships.  Details about JWCC’s agriculture courses, certificates and degrees will be shared and University of Illinois representatives will explain the unique opportunities available for JWCC students through the University Orr’s Research Center.  Other presenters will provide overviews of the JWCC Student Government Association, Agriculture Club and Alumni Association.  JWCC academic advisors will be on hand to register participants for fall classes.

The JWCC Agriculture Alumni Association will provide a complimentary lunch at noon.

JWCC fall semester classes begin the week of August 13.  Many classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays only and students may attend full or part time.  Classes can also be taken individually based on students’ schedules.  The last day of regular registration for fall semester is August 2.
