A current Quincy City Alderman announces Monday that he will be a candidate for Mayor in next spring’s election.

Sixth Ward alderman Jeff VanCamp said he would run as an independent in the April 4th election.

VanCamp is Director of Development at Chaddock School. A graduate of Quincy Notre Dame and Quincy University, VanCamp has served on the Quincy Park Board, the Public Library Board and Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers.

VanCamp was elected to the city council in 2015.

The only other declared candidate for Quincy Mayor is incumbent Republican Kyle Moore.

The deadline for the filing of petitions to run in the spring election is November 28th for Republicans and Democrats and December 19th for Independents.
