A Japanese couple has taken a long-delayed honeymoon to their dream location — Hannibal.

The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that when Ryo and Juri Waguri first wed, they were poor students and couldn't afford the honeymoon trip they dreamed of taking. But the dream wasn't forgotten.

Recently, the couple made the long-awaited trip to the boyhood home of Mark Twain. The northeast Missouri town of 17,000 draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

The location was appealing because Ryo Waguri is a professor of American literature at a private university in Yokohama, Japan. His wife, Juri, is a historian of Venetian history of Renaissance and an associate professor at St. Andrews University in Osaka, Japan.

Juri Waguri called Hannibal an "amazing place."
