Investigation Underway in Death of Beardstown Infant

Investigators with the Illinois State Police and Beardstown Police are looking into the death of a ten month old infant in Beardstown, Illinois Friday.

Police report they responded to a call for medical assistance at a residence about 10:15 a.m. Friday.

The baby was taken to Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, where he was pronounced dead.

The baby had been in the care of the mother’s live-in boyfriend. He had left the residence, and when he returned, he began to stab himself. He was tasered and taken into custody.

An autopsy will be conducted on the baby Saturday.
