Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee held its third hearing on guns in the past two weeks.  Thursday’s debate was on assault weapons.

Following the hearing State Representative Jil Tracy (R-Quincy), who is a member of the committee, questioned witnesses about public safety and also said that legislators need to get to the root of the problem.

Tracy said that if she lived alone in Chicago near gang members, she'd feel better having access to an assault rifle.
