An Illinois man has been sentenced to two life terms plus 30 years in prison for a Peoria house fire that killed four people, including a 2-year-old boy.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports 37-year-old Aunterrio Barney of Chicago was sentenced Thursday in Peoria County court. He told family members he was sorry for their loss but said he didn't set the April 2010 fire.

The Peoria County judge says he has no doubt Barney poured gas on the stairs to the upstairs apartment. Prosecutors say he was angry at one of the victims and suspected she was with another man.

A jury took about 90 minutes to find Barney guilty of murder and aggravated arson last month. State law requires a life term for killing more than one person in a single act.
