Two West-Central Illinois counties are among the state leaders for the first part of the firearm deer season.

Across Illinois, almost 52 thousand deer were harvested during the recent opening weekend. The second part is December 4 - 7.

Placing second in Illinois was Adams County with just over 14 hundred bagged. Pike County was third with a little under 14 hundred. The top county was Jackson, where more than 15 hundred deer were taken.

In Northeast Missouri, Macon County is the fifth-best place to hunt deer in the state so far this season.
