The Illinois Commerce Commission puts its stamp of approval on the Grain Belt Express transmission line project Thursday.

In a press release, the ICC announces it has approved the application of Clean Line Express Clean Line LLC to construct, operate and maintain a 600 kilovolt, 4,000 megawatt high voltage electric transmission line.

The 780 mile long overhead line would run from Kansas to Indiana. The line would run through northeast Missouri, crossing the Mississippi River just south of Quincy and making its way through Pike and Scott counties on its way to the Wabash River.

Grain Belt hopes for construction to begin in 2017 with transmission to begin in 2019.
