The Illinois Department of Transportation has set a load limit on vehicles crossing the Illinois River at Florence in Pike County.

IDOT reports that a recent routine inspection of the bridge results in a load posting of 28 tons on the structure that carries Illinois Highway 106 over the Illinois River.

Vehicles over 28 tons are instructed to use Highways 106 and 54, Interstate 72 and Highway 100 as a detour route, crossing the river on I-72 at Valley City.

IDOT says they are working on plans to make necessary repairs so that the load posting requirements can be removed in the near future.
