Icy roads are blamed for several traffic crashes in northeast Missouri and western Illinois on Saturday.

One of those crashes claimed the life of a Springfield Missouri woman. The Missouri Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Malori McGhee of Springfield was killed in a crash at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on US 24 a mile and a half south of Monroe City. Troopers say she was a passenger in an SUV driven by 23-year-old Sean Fahrendorf of Springfield when he lost control on the icy road and collided with a pickup driven by 39-year-old Monica Lloyd of Monroe City.

Fahrendorf and Lloyd sustained minor injuries. Troopers say 3-year-old Jacob Lloyd of Monroe City sustained serious injuries. Two other children received minor injuries. The injured were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.
