In honor of Father’s Day, Hannibal Regional Hospital is pleased to offer Vascular Screenings in June to assist you in taking steps to enjoy healthy living.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in Missouri.  One in three deaths is attributed to major cardiovascular diseases, including stroke.   Diet, smoking, exercise levels and weight can all be factors in developing heart disease. Our busy lifestyles may make it difficult to choose the best options to promote heart health.  Have you shown any early signs of heart disease?

Signs and symptoms of a heart attack include:

·         Chest discomfort or pain
·         Upper body pain (neck, jaw or shoulder)
·         Stomach pain or discomfort (heartburn)
·         Shortness of breath
·         Anxiety
·         Lightheadedness or dizziness
·         Sweating
·         Nausea or vomiting
·         Unusual or unexplained fatigue

Hannibal Regional Hospital is your partner in preventing heart disease and is pleased to offer Vascular Screenings on Monday, June 11th through Friday, June 15th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The screening will include glucose and lipid panel to determine cholesterol levels, vascular ultrasound of the carotid and abdominal aorta, and an ABI of peripheral arteries.  The cost of the screening is $99 and insurance will not be billed. To schedule an appointment, call 573-406-1644.

Vascular ultrasounds are painless tests that can help with early detection of vascular disease.  Early detection can be the key to successful treatment of these conditions. Risk factors for vascular disease include diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, family history of atherosclerosis or age greater than 60.
