A homeless woman who was featured in a documentary has died after a vehicle struck her in Springfield.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that 53-year-old Petra Hensler was crossing a street last week when she was hit. She died Saturday.

Hensler was featured in a short documentary made by photographer and filmmaker Randy Bacon a couple years ago. Bacon's studio is in downtown Springfield. The documentary shows Hensler and her partner, Kevin Drake, speaking about being judged because they were homeless.

Hensler said in the documentary that she just wanted to be "treated fair."

Bacon said Hensler and Drake had a "good" love story. He described Hensler as a "great person."

Police said in a news release that the investigation is ongoing. The driver wasn't hurt in the crash.
