The Highland Cougars sent a large homecoming crowd home happy Friday night, as they won for the first time this season, 34-20 over Mark Twain.

The two teams traded touchdowns through a wild first half. In the first quarter, the Tigers scored first on a 50 yard pass from Kacey Simmons to Logan Epperson. The Cougars answered on an eight yard run by Derick Smith. There were no less than five TD's in the second stanza. Highland scored on a 14 yard run by Wes Cramsey and runs of 3 and 8 yards by Chris Sparks. The Tigers scored on runs of 36 and 1 yard by Tyler Steinkamp. There was just one score in the second half, as the Cougars sealed the deal with a 17 yard by Sparks with 37 seconds left.

Along with his three touchdowns, Sparks ran for 142 yards on 21 carries.

The Cougars now stand at 1-5, while the Tigers drop to 2-4.
