The Hannibal Pirates and Palmyra Panthers hit the road for football action Friday night.

The Pirates withstood an opening-night from Jefferson City Helias at Porter Stadium last week, prevailing 19-14.

This week, Hannibal helps Quincy Notre Dame open its season at Advance Physical Therapy Field in Quincy. This is the first time the interstate rivals have met since 2013, when the Raiders prevailed 17-6.

Meanwhile, Palmyra ran into an improved Macon Tiger squad, with the Panthers coming out on the short end of a 19-7 score.

The Panthers are on the road Friday, traveling to Bowling Green to face the Bobcats. They also suffered a season-opening loss, 60-15 to St. Clair.
