HHS Pirates Win on the Road, Palmyra Panthers Now 2-0 on Season [Audio]

The Hannibal Pirates pick up their first win of the season on the road.
The Pirates traveled to Columbia to take on Battle High. Sophomore Jerry McBride had three touchdowns on the night as the Pirates defeat Columbia 42 to 27. The Pirates play Boonville next week.
The Palmyra Panthers are 2 and 0 on the season, after defeating Centralia 24 to 21. Sports Director Bill Shuler has more…
"Palmyra trailed early 7 to nothing. The Panthers got on the board with a big play from Caleb Kizer...then a pair of touchdown passes from Brock Butler to Jordan Nutt put Palmyra up 18 to 14. Caleb Kizer capped a short 31 yard drive set up by a Centralia turnover, scoring from 14 yards out, putting Palmyra up 24 to 14. Centralia with a touchdown late, but Palmyra prevails 24 to 21."

ST. Louis (AP)-- The St. Louis Cardinals have moved within a half-game of the NL Central lead after holding off first-place Pittsburgh, 12-8. Carlos Beltran had RBIs his first two at-bats to help chase A.J. Burnett early. Joe Kelly beat the Pirates for the third straight time. Kelly is 8-3 overall but has eight victories without a loss since going into the starting rotation in late June.
