Harold Volkmer Remembered

HANNIBAL -- State and federal judges and lawyers remembered the late U.S. Rep. Harold Volkmer Friday during a memorial service in Hannibal.
The 10th Judicial Circuit Bar Association commemorated Volkmer's life and career during a special session of Marion County circuit court.
Volkmer, a Democrat from Hannibal, died at age 80 in April 2011. Marion County Prosecutor Tom Redington -- whose job Volkmer held in the 1960s -- said the bar association gathering is a long-running local tradition to commemorate a judge's or lawyer's life in a special session several months after his or her death.
