The man who has served as president of one of Quincy’s oldest businesses for the last forty years has died.

Officials with Knapheide Manufacturing confirmed Wednesday the death of Harold “Knap” Knapheide III Tuesday evening at the age of 72.

Harold Knapheide III had served as president of Knapheide Manufacturing since 1978. He is the fifth generation of his family to run the company that was founded by his great-great grandfather in 1848.

Services for Harold Knapheide III are 11 a.m. Monday at Knapheide Manufacturing on Koch’s Lane in Quincy.
