Friday night the Hannibal Pirates entered week 3 of the high school football season 2 -0, following a season-opening win against Quincy Notre Dame, and last week's come-fr0m-behind victory to beat Quincy Senior High. It was another rainy night at Porter Stadium, though nowhere near as intense as the downpour last week, as the Boonville Pirates met the Hannibal Pirates.

Both teams were fairly evenly-matched in the first half. After a scoreless first quarter, both squads of Pirates were able to reach the end zone twice in the second. Two failed 2-point conversions by Boonville were the difference, as Hannibal took a 14 - 12 lead into halftime.

Hannibal would widen their lead in the third quarter with two more touchdowns, and some impressive defensive stops. It would be all Hannibal in the fourth quarter, as the Pirates continued to put points on the board, and the defense kept Boonville scoreless. The final score: Hannibal 41 - Boonville 12

The Pirates will be on the road next week, as they meet up with the Mexico Bulldogs. That game will be streamed live at KHMORadio.com.
