A traffic stop for an equipment violation in Hannibal early Tuesday evening results in three arrests.
Hannibal Police say the vehicle failed to yield initially on US 61 and stopped at a business on Diamond Boulevard. While the officer was awaiting backup, the vehicle fled on Diamond and crashed near the Huck Finn Shopping Center. Police say the driver—27 year old Jaryd Gibbons of Timewell Illinois fled on foot and was apprehended nearby. He was found in possession of ammunition and a loaded handgun was found near the vehicle. Gibbons was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest. One of the occupants of the vehicle—25 year old Cartez Marion of Hannibal was arrested on an outstanding Marion County warrant. Another occupant—25 year old Thea Robbearts of Hannibal was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Police say Robbearts also sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
