(HANNIBAL)—Snow removal around Hannibal generated discussion at Tuesday’s Hannibal City Council meeting. Business owner Cindy Benjamin complained of snow piled on sidewalks and in parking spaces. City Manager Jeff LeGarce says the amount of snow on February 21st made it impossible to push it to the center of Broadway and that a new snow moving plan is being developed to allow larger amounts of snow to be pushed to the middle of Broadway.

Council members also received a quarterly report from the Hannibal Board of Public Works. General Manager Bob Stevenson notes that upgrades costing in excess of a million dollars are needed for the city’s waste water and water systems.

The Council also OK’d a 20 year lease with the Hannibal Boat Club for its riverfront location and approved street closures for the Mississippi River Run August 24th and for the mud volleyball tournament as part of National Tom Sawyer Days.
