(Hannibal) – The September rainfall numbers are in, and Hannibal got more rain last month than it had gotten in the four previous months combined.

The numbers from the reporting station at the Filter Plant indicates a total of 5.78 inches of rain in September, which is about 2 and-a-half inches above normal. 3.42 inches of that total came at the beginning of the month when the remnants of Hurricane Isaac soaked the area. The next highest daily total came on the 27th when .82 fell in Hannibal.

From May through August, the Filter Plant only recorded 4.1 inches of rainfall. The warmest day in September was the 5th, when the thermometer hit 93. The chilliest day was the 24th, when the morning low dipped to 42.
