The Hannibal Police Department says one of its patrol cars was struck by another vehicle during an investigation early on Wednesday morning.

According to police, while responding to a domestic assault call, an officer saw the suspect's vehicle leaving the area. The officer stopped the vehicle in the 800 block of Vermont. Police say that as the officer exited the patrol car, the suspect backed his vehicle toward the officer and struck the patrol car, then fled the scene on foot.

The officer involved was not injured.
