Officers of the Hannibal Police Department were called to Walmart Saturday night for a report of a female who assaulted an employee while stealing a television.

The female, 42 year old Tasha D Mayfield, of Hannibal, got into a vehicle and attempted to leave the area. After officers located and stopped the vehicle, Mayfield fled from officers on foot and was apprehended a short distance later. Mayfield was arrested on charges of Robbery Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Property Damage, Open Liquor, Public Intoxication and an active warrant. Mayfield was also charged with Assaulting a Law Enforcement Officer for kicking and scratching an officer while being booked.

The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Brown, 56, of Hannibal, was arrested on charges of Robbery, Open Liquor and Public Intoxication.

Two other passengers in the vehicle, Anthony W Fonza, 51, and Yolanda D Sydnor, 36, both of Hannibal, were arrested for Misdemeanor Theft and Open Liquor. Sydnor and Fonza were released on summons.

Brown and Mayfield were placed on 24 hour holds at the Marion County Jail. The Walmart employee and the officer suffered only minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
