ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals have used a passed ball to pass Pittsburgh again in the NL Central. Pete Kozma scored on Mike Zunino's mistake with the bases loaded in the 10th. St. Louis won the wild game 2-1 over the Seattle Mariners, moving ahead of the Pirates for first place.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Pirates hit three consecutive homers, but the Chicago Cubs got the one that mattered most. Anthony Rizzo's towering two-run shot in the seventh gave the Cubs the 5-4 win. Earlier in the game, Pedro Alvarez, Russell Martin and Garrett Jones hit homers for Pittsburgh.

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers have dealt a blow to the playoff hopes of the Kansas City Royals. The Tigers got a homer and three RBIs from Prince Fielder and a quality outing from Justin Verlander in a 6-3 win. They remain 6 games ahead of Cleveland in the AL Central, while the Royals dropped a game in the Wild Card race.

CHICAGO (AP) - The Cleveland Indians continue to dominate the Chicago White Sox this season. They won for the 10th time in a row, beating Chicago 3-1. Sox starter Hector Santiago remained winless since Aug. 18, going four-plus innings and giving up all three Cleveland runs.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings are expecting a key defensive player will make his season debut Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Even though defensive tackle Kevin Williams missed practice yesterday for personal reasons, coach Leslie Frazier says he'll be ready for the game.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Hip soreness has defensive end Chris Long listed as questionable for the St. Louis Rams' game Sunday at Atlanta. Also on the injury report yesterday were cornerback Quinton Porter, ruled out with a thigh injury, and safety Darian Stewart was doubtful.

IRVING, Texas (AP) - DeMarcus Ware will try to snap a three-game streak without a sack when the Dallas Cowboys visit Kansas City on Sunday. Last week was a forgettable game for him as it was just the second time he hasn't made a tackle in eight years in the NFL. He did provide pressure for three interceptions.
