The Hannibal Pirates and Palmyra Panthers both won big on a dark and stormy Friday night.

The Pirates shut out Boonville 49-0 at Porter Stadium. Austin Kirby passed for 119 yards and two touchdowns and Shamar Griffith rushed for 194 yards and two TD's. Meanwhile, Hannibal's defense limited Boonville to 97 yards of total offense.

In Palmyra, the Panthers set the tone for their game on the opening kickoff. The Panthers' Mason Franklin ran the Highland Cougars' kickoff back 80 yards for a touchdown, and the home team never looked back. The final score was 50-0, as Palmyra quarterback Ben Cheffey ran for two touchdowns and passed for another.

Both games were delayed because of lightning in the area, and Hannibal's game was called off in the fourth quarter when the second wave of storms moved through.

Both the Pirates and Panthers improved their records to 2-1 with the Friday night victories.
