Hannibal, Palmyra Come Up Short Friday Night
The Hannibal Pirates and Palmyra Panthers both came up short in their final regular season games Friday night.
Hannibal, the top-ranked team in Class 4, stayed with Columbia Battle for three quarters before losing 50-27. Battle is the second-ranked team in Class 5. The loss drops the Pirates to 7-2 heading into district play.
Meanwhile, the annual Mayor's Cup game goes to Monroe City as they edge Palmyra 22-16. Monroe City broke a 16-16 tie with 1:18 to go in the game on a 26 yard TD run by senior running back Logan Minter. Both Palmyra and Monroe City end their regular season with 6-3 records.
