Authorities have identified the person who died in Wednesday afternoon Hannibal motel fire.

According to Marion County Coroner Richard Jones, 77 year old Sharon Hale died in the blaze at the Country Hearth Inn on Mark Twain Avenue.

Jones said the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

Hannibal firefighters responded to the fire at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday. They found heavy smoke and fire coming from an occupied room in the motel.

The fire was under control in about ten minutes. Hale was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital, where she died.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Hannibal fire officials and the Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office.
