A Hannibal man is wanted by authorities in Lincoln County for allegedly scamming an elderly woman.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office, 67-year-old George Fogle is wanted for financial exploitation of an elderly person. A second person allegedly involved in the incident, 50-year-old William Riley, also of Hannibal, is in custody in Scott County, Missouri on $100,000 bond.

Fogle is alleged to have told an 88-year-old widow in Lincoln County she needed work done on her lightning rods. She wrote Fogle a check, which he cashed at a nearby bank and never did the work.

An investigation revealed that Riley’s driver’s license was used as ID when the check was cashed.

Fogel and Riley are wanted on similar charges in five other states, including Illinois.

Anyone with information on George Fogle’s whereabouts is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff at 636-528-8546.
