A 39-year-old Hannibal man has been arrested on drug charges.

Around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, a Hannibal police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for driving erratically. The vehicle stopped, but before the officer could make contact, the driver drove off. The driver was seen throwing items from the vehicle and tried to evade the officer, but eventually stopped.

The driver, James J. Ryan, was arrested. The officer found a substance believed to be meth on him. Officers also recovered the items thrown and discovered they were items to manufacture methamphetamine.

Ryan was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Possession of a controlled Substance, Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.
