A Hannibal man faces up to seven years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000 for allegedly punching an 11-year-old boy with a closed fist. He's been charged with D felony Child Abuse.

According to a release by the Office of the Marion County Prosecuting Attorney, the suspect, Damien J. Gray, has an "extensive criminal history mostly from the Chicago area".

"An accusation of an adult male punching a young boy in the face is a serious matter," reads the release. "Fortunately, the child did not sustain life threatening injuries."

He is currently housed in the Marion County Jail on a bond of $25,000.
