The Hannibal Hoots ended their three game losing streak in a big way Monday night, knocking off the Springfield Sliders 15-2 at Clemens Field.

The game started innocently enough, with the Hoots scoring a run in the first and the Sliders tying the game in the fifth.

Hannibal took the lead with three in the fifth and Springfield made it 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh.

By the time the seventh was over, 15 Hoots had batted, 12 had reached base and eleven had scored. Center fielder Tye Thixton and first baseman Jordan Humphries each had two hits in the inning, Thixton, shortstop Josh Lane and left fielder Patrick Donahue each scored twice. Right fielder Dylan Dodd drove in four runs and scored once.

Hannibal starting pitcher Randall Coxwell went the first six innings and took the win.

The Hoots record improves to 2-4, while the Sliders drop to 3-3.

Hannibal hits the road, with games in Kokomo Tuesday, Chillicothe Wednesday and Thursday and Terre Haute Friday. After a day off Saturday, the Hoots return to Clemens Field to face the Danville Dans Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
