The Hannibal Hoots hit the road Thursday, losing to the Sliders in Springfield 3-1.

The Hoots got on the board first. Center fielder Tommy Kraus led off the game with a double, went to third on an infield hit by shortstop Ethan Owens and scored on a ground out by right fielder Aaron Goecks.

That lone run held up until the bottom of the third. With two outs, Springfield left fielder Logan Stephens and first baseman Anthony Smith reached on errors. Third baseman Adam Lopez walked and right fielder Lee Poteat cleared the bases with a double.

Hannibal starting pitcher Quinton Kujawa took the loss. Brendan Saak and Richie Well pitched four innings of scoreless relief.

The Hoots return home Friday to renew the "Battle for the Paddle" as they take on the Quincy Gems at 6:35 p.m.
