The Hannibal Hoots came from behind early and piled on late, defeating the Springfield Sliders 9-2 Monday at Clemens Field.

Springfield took a 2-0 lead in the third, but Hannibal answered in the bottom of the third with three of their own. Center fielder Patrick Donohue led off with a walk, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored when right fielder Dylan Dodd reached on an error. After a walk to catcher Brady West, first baseman Alex Satunas drove in Dodd with a single, and West later scored on a wild pitch.

After scoring a single run in the fourth, the Hoots added two in the seventh on home run by Dodd and back-to-back doubles by West and Satunas.

Hannibal closed out the scoring with three more in the eighth on an RBI single by Donohue and a two-run homer by pinch hitter Aaron Goecks.

The win improved the Hoots to 24-33, while the Sliders fell to 28-27.

Hannibal can play spoiler in the West Division Tuesday as they take on the division-leading Rex at Terre Haute.
