The Hannibal Hoots' losing streak reached nine and then came to an end as they split a double header at Danville Tuesday.

In the first game, Dans' shortstop Gavin Dugas homered in the first and made that run hold up, outhitting the Hoots 4-3 and winning 1-0. Randall Coxwell was the starter and loser for Hannibal.

The Hoots bounced back in game two, scoring three times in the fifth and holding off the Dans, winning 3-2.

Hannibal trailed 1-0 in the fifth, when left fielder Connor Pasko led off with a walk. Designated Hitter Chris Iazzeta bunted to advance Pasko and reached base on an error, with Pasko going to third.

Center fielder Tye Thixton drove in Pasko with a sacrifice fly. Iazetta scored on a base hit by shortstop Jose Mercado, who scored on a single by second baseman Josh Lane.

Dylan Dodd was the starting and winning pitcher for the Hoots.

The doubleheader split runs Hannibal's record to 5-17. Danville now stands at 13-10.

The Hoots are at Springfield Wednesday night.
