The Hannibal Hoots once again battled back down the stretch, but, for the second night in a row, came up short, losing to the Dans in Danville 7-4 Sunday.

Trailing 2-0 in the third, the Hoots scored on a single by shortstop Josh Lane, a throwing error and an RBI base hitt by center fielder Tye Thixton.

Danville scored twice more in the third, with single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh.

Hannibal answered with a run in the fifth, one in the sixth on a triple by first baseman Dylan Dodd and a sacrifice fly by left fielder Aaron Goecks, and one in the seventh when second baseman Richie Well walked and scored on a double by Thixton.

Hoots' starting pitcher Dylan Marble went four innings and took the loss.

The loss drops the Hoots to 1-4. Danville improves to 1-3.

Hannibal is back home Monday night as they take on the Springfield Sliders. Gates open at 5:30, with the first pitch at 6:35.
