Hannibal city officials hope the third time’s the charm in selecting a site for a community garden.

The original site for the Victory over Hunger garden at the corner of 9th and Warren Barrett was abandoned because of bad soil.

Then the garden was moved to 412 Munger Lane, but residents in the neighborhood protested because they thought it would attract unwanted attention to the area.

Now, the city has settled on a site at the northwest corner of Adams and Sycamore.

Planting is expected to start in mid April.
