Hannibal City Council To Discuss Local Bidder Preference

(HANNIBAL)—Hannibal City Council members will hear from three area businesses about local bidder preference procedures on city projects. A letter to City Manager Jeff LeGarce from Heimer Construction expresses concern about the preference being for contractors within the 63401 Hannibal zip code. The letter points out that their employees live in Hannibal and several nearby communities  yet they would be considered an outside contractor under the proposed criteria. General Contractor Mike Roberts and Greg Sutton of Sutton Enterprises are also on the agenda to discuss local bidder preference. Also on the agenda is a request from Luther Manor nursing home for a fireworks display to mark their 40th anniversary next Saturday and some street closures for the Juneteenth Celebration.
