Hannibal City Council Meets Tonight

(HANNIBAL)—Hannibal City Council members get a look at revisions to a proposed ordinance on purchasing preference provisions for local businesses. The definition of a local business is expanded to include the 63459 zip code in addition to the 63401 zip code. The percentage discounted in evaluating local bids would range from one percent to five percent based on the size of the bid. The local preference would not apply to projects funded by state or federal agencies. Emergency purchases are also exempt in the proposed ordinance.
