Hannibal Child Abuse Arrest

A Hannibal man faces charges of felony neglect or abuse of a child with a serious physical injury following his arrest late Tuesday night.

Hannibal Police say they were called to Hannibal Regional Hospital in regard to child abuse involving a three-month-old infant. Due to the severity of the child’s injuries, the infant was flown to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.

Police say the child’s father, 23-year-old Eugene Melton of Hannibal, is in held in the Marion County Jail on 100-thousand dollars cash only bond.
