The Hannibal Cavemen marked the halfway point in the 2015 Prospect League season with a 5-3 win over the Springfield Sliders Tuesday night.

The visitors scored first on a two-run double by first baseman David Jacob. The Cavemen came right back in the bottom of the first, as right fielder Ryan Snyder drove in two runs with a single.

Hannibal took the lead in the third on another RBI single by Snyder. Springfield tied it in the fifth, but the Cavemen took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Emilio Lollio.

Hannibal added an insurance run in the seventh on a sac fly by third baseman Seth Soto.

Jake Eikleberry was the starter and winner for Hannibal, with Brendan Kleekamp shutting out the Sliders over the last four innings for the save.

The win improves the Cavemen's record to 7-17, while the Sliders fall to 12-16. The two teams meet again Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. at Clemens Field. The scheduled starting pitchers are Michael Greene for Hannibal and James Kannenberg for Springfield.
