The Hannibal Cavemen chalk up their first win of the 2015 Prospect League campaign Thursday night, knocking off the Gems in Quincy 10-4.

The Gems took an early lead, with single runs in the first and second off Hannibal starter Peter Minella.

The Cavemen tied it with two in the third and Quincy came back to take a 3-2 lead at the end of three. The visitors took the lead for good with three in the fourth. They added two more in the sixth and three in the seventh.

The offensive stars for Hannibal were center fielder Justin Blechle, who went 4-for-6 with a double, a triple, and RBI and three runs scored, second baseman Phillip Stiles with a two-run homer, and two RBI apiece for DH Stefan Miladinovich and left fielder Emilio Lollio.

Reliever Ryan Furtney got the win for the Cavemen, while Joseph Mercado took the loss for the Gems.

Hannibal improves to 1-7 with the win, while the Gems drop to 2-6. The Battle for the Paddle continues at QU Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Friday. The scheduled starters are Sam Cottingham-Beard for Hannibal and Colan Borchers for Quincy.
