The latest installment of the Battle for the Paddle proved to be just that, as the Hannibal Cavemen and the Quincy Gems battled for eleven innings before the Gems prevailed 2-1 Wednesday night.

The game was scoreless until the sixth when Quincy broke through on two walks and an RBI single by catcher Chase Simmons.

Hannibal tied the game in the seventh on a double by second baseman Joe Redburn, a walk to center fielder Justin Blechle and a sacrifice fly off the bat of left fielder Wesley Degener.

The Gems pushed across the winning run in the eleventh on a single, a stolen base and an RBI base hit by shortstop Aaron Meyer.

Connor Keating pitched the eleventh for Hannibal and took the loss. Reliever Tyler O'Shea got the win.

The Cavemen hit the road for a double header in Danville Thursday night. They're back at Clemens Field Friday night to take on the Springfield Sliders.
