The Quincy Gems broke open a close game in the middle innings on their way to a 10-2 win over the Hannibal Cavemen at Clemens Field Tuesday night.

Hannibal scored first on a fielder's choice off the bat of catcher Noah Etchison in the second.

Quincy tied the game in the third on an RBI double by second baseman Houston Looser, then the Cavemen retook the lead in the bottom of the third on a run-scoring single by right fielder Matthew Green.

The Gems went to work in the fourth, scoring twice on a single, a walk, a groundout and a wild pitch. Two more scored in the fifth on a double, an error and a single, then added four more in the sixth on an RBI single by Looser and a three-run homer by third baseman Joey Polak. Quincy added one more run in the ninth.
