The Hannibal Cavemen close out their 2016 home season Friday by splitting a doubleheader with the DuPage Drones, dropping the opener 10-5 in eight innings, then taking the nightcap 2-0.

The Drones built up a 5-1 lead going into the sixth. That's when the Cavemen battled back, stringing together five hits, four of them doubles, and tying the game at 5-5.

The Drones took control in extra innings, sending 12 men to the plate and scoring five for the win.

The story of game two was a masterful pitching performance by Hannibal starter Drew Flatford. He went the distance, giving up just two hits, striking out four and walking one.

The Cavemen got all the runs they would need in the fourth on a two-run double by catcher David Hayes.

Hannibal travels to DuPage Saturday night in the final game of the 2016 Prospect League season.
