The Hannibal Cavemen picked up a big win Thursday night, overcoming a four-run eighth inning deficit with a 6-5 walk-off win over Terre Haute at Clemens Field.

The Rex pushed across two runs in the fifth. The Cavemen answered with a lead-off home run by catcher Johnathon Hallman in the seventh.

Terre Haute scored three more in the eighth to take a 5-1 lead. That's when Hannibal went to work.

Matthew Green led off the eighth with a double. After a walk to Nicco Lollio, Ed Reichenbach drove in Green with a single. Wyatt Champlin walked, loading the bases. Lollio scored on a base hit by Seth Soto. Reichenbach scored when Hallman grounded into a double play. Fernando Ortiz, Jr. tied the game with a single, scoring Champlin.

The Cavemen won the game in the ninth when Joseph Collazo was hit by a pitch, Green walked and Lollio delivered an RBI single, sending the home crowd away happy.

Ryan Furtney pitched the final inning-and-a-third for Hannibal and got the win.

The victory improves the Cavemen's record to 2-4.

Hannibal travels to Kokomo for games with the Jackrabbits Friday and Saturday nights. The Cavemen's next home game is Sunday night against the West Division leading Quincy Gems.
