The Hannibal Board of Public Works has decided to take a wait-and-see attitude toward investing in a proposed interstate electric transmission line.

According to BPW General Manager Bob Stevenson, talks between the city and Clean Line Energy Partners about BPW investing in the Grain Belt Express power lines have been suspended.

After Clean Line Energy’s proposed transmission line had been rejected by the Missouri Public Service Commission, they tried to drum up business in the state with municipal utilities, including BPW.

Stevenson says that, for now, the city will take a step back and see what happens between Clean Line Energy and other Missouri municipalities.
