A Hannibal attorney who had applied for a vacancy on the Missouri Supreme Court will not be among the finalists being recommended to Governor Eric Greitens.

John Morthland, an attorney with the Wasinger Parham LC in Hannibal, interviewed Tuesday for the high court vacancy created by the death last year of Judge Richard Teitelman.

31 applicants were interviewed this week by the Appellate Judicial Commission.

The three finalists to be considered by the governor are Lisa White Hardwick, a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District; Benjamin Lipman, a lawyer with the Lewis Rice LLC in St. Louis and Brent Powell, a circuit judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit in Jackson County.
