(JEFFERSON CITY)--When he presents his budget to lawmakers today, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is expected to ask for more money for health care and education. Nixon will be giving his State of the State address at the Capitol. Nixon has already revealed he wants lawmakers to expand Medicaid eligibility for low-income adults, as allowed under the federal Affordable Care Act. His spending plan is expected to include a projection of more than 46 million dollars in savings and new tax revenues as a result of Medicaid expansion. Republicans have been slow to support either the expanded program or the projected increase in state revenues to this point.
